Privacy Policy
Drive Venture is an early pilot that helps families record supervised teen-driving practice and understand licensing progress. This policy explains what information we process and why.
Drive Venture is operated by Michael Stefaniak as a Michigan sole proprietor. In this policy, “Drive Venture,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the service and its operator.
Information we collect
Depending on how a family uses Drive Venture, we may collect:
- Parent or guardian information: name, email address, relationship to the driver, and, if provided, mobile number.
- Driver information: name or nickname, email address, birthday, licensing stage and dates, home ZIP code, favorite color, optional photo, and, if provided, mobile number.
- Vehicle information: vehicle name, class, color, and other information a family adds to its Garage.
- Driving records: dates, start and end times, locations or destinations, vehicle used, day and night hours, notes, achievements, and licensing-progress calculations.
- SMS information: mobile number, consent and opt-out status, message content, timestamps, delivery information, and commands sent to Text Parker.
- Service and technical information: internal identifiers, provisioning and migration status, error and audit records, approximate location coordinates derived from ZIP code, and ordinary technical information produced by our providers.
We do not currently collect continuous GPS trip tracking, payment-card information, or information for targeted advertising.
How we use information
- Enroll pilot families and provision their Drive Venture experience.
- Record supervised drives and calculate practice time, achievements, and licensing progress.
- Provide requested communications, support, and optional Text Parker messages.
- Maintain security, troubleshoot failures, prevent duplicate processing, and preserve audit history.
- Evaluate and improve the pilot using feedback and aggregated or de-identified information.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
SMS and mobile information
SMS participation is optional and is not required to use Drive Venture. We use mobile information to provide transactional enrollment, drive-recording, service-status, and help messages requested by participating users.
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers, SMS consent, or opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We may disclose mobile information to service providers and wireless carriers only as needed to operate and deliver the messaging service, or when required by law.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information:
- Within the participating family, including between the driver and authorizing parent or guardian.
- To service providers that process information on our behalf.
- When reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate misuse, comply with law, or respond to valid legal process.
- With consent or at the direction of the person authorized to make the request.
Service providers
- Google: Forms, Sheets, Apps Script, Google Cloud, and email used for registration, driving records, calculations, and operations.
- Twilio, wireless carriers, and messaging intermediaries: mobile numbers, message content, delivery metadata, consent, and opt-out processing for Text Parker.
- GitHub Pages: public website hosting and ordinary web-request information. The public site does not host family accounts or driving records.
- Open-Meteo and sunrise/sunset services: dates and approximate coordinates used for location, weather, and daylight calculations without names or contact information.
- Network Solutions: domain registration and DNS services, not Drive Venture application data.
Retention
- Active registration and driving records are retained while a family participates.
- Inactive pilot registration and driving records are deleted or de-identified within 12 months, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary.
- SMS message content is normally retained for up to 12 months, unless needed for an unresolved support, security, or legal matter.
- Consent, opt-out, policy-version, provisioning, migration, security, and other audit records may be retained for up to five years after the relevant interaction.
- Provider backups and technical logs follow the providers’ normal retention cycles.
Your choices and requests
A parent or guardian who authorized a minor’s participation, or an adult driver, may request access, correction, or deletion by emailing mike@mydriveventure.com. We may verify the request using information already held. We aim to complete ordinary verified requests within 30 days.
We may retain minimal records needed to document consent, opt-out, deletion, security matters, or legal obligations. Information in provider backups may remain until the provider’s normal backup cycle completes.
Replying STOP ends SMS messages without waiting for a broader deletion request.
Children and teen drivers
Drive Venture is intended for teen permit holders and their families, not children under 13. A parent or legal guardian must initiate or approve participation for a driver under 18. If we learn that we collected personal information directly from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to an early pilot. No service or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the pilot changes. We will publish the revised policy here with a new “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects participating families.
